From Watsonia, Bulleen and beyond, schools, pre-schools and the arts are big winners in the latest round of the North East Community Fund.
Forty-seven community groups and organisations across the north-east will share in over $2 million – supporting local projects and suburbs close to construction.
Schools, kinders and preschools near North East Link tunnelling works will be able to deliver a range of exciting projects, with new outdoor play spaces and playground upgrades.
Funding has also been given to support arts and culture, sustainability and local sport as well as local trader initiatives and shopping precincts near North East Link works.
We’ll also be partnering with Heide Park and Art Gallery in Bulleen to create a ceremonial gathering and learning space by the Birrarung/Yarra River. It will highlight indigenous plants and land management techniques and be a new space for Heide visitors to see as North East Link construction progresses nearby.
The North East Community Fund has been focused on supporting suburbs close to North East Link tunnelling construction. As works progress on the M80 Ring Road Completion and Eastern Freeway Upgrades, the fund will also support community groups and organisations near these works.
The next funding round will open in 2024.
