We’ve temporarily closed the shared walking and cycling path behind the Banyule Football Club goals at AJ Burkitt Reserve due to complex ground conditions beneath the surface where the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are tunnelling. While this won’t be before the weekend, we will aim to open the path as quickly as possible.
This is a measure implemented out of caution as part of additional measures put in place following the investigation into the surface hole earlier this month. There is no immediate risk to surrounding homes as the TBMs are no longer in close proximity to households.
Detours of the walking and cycling path will remain in place with the support of 24/7 traffic controllers.
