The Main Yarra Trail will be safely reopened on Thursday 2 April.
With both TBMs having passed through the area, completing more than 80% of their journey from Watsonia to Bulleen, we are confident we can now safely reopen the trail.
The Main Yarra Trail, along AJ Burkitt Reserve, was closed out of an abundance of caution while the TBMs excavated the tunnels below.
We’ll continue ground condition monitoring at AJ Burkitt Reserve and Banksia Park while we continue constructing the cross passages between the two tunnels.
Remediation works on the oval are underway including the reinstatement of turf to restore the grounds, with turf laid and hydroseeding to commence this week. The project remains on track to hand back the oval to council in late April.
