What’s next for Greensborough Road boulevard?

Back to Newsfeed

As construction continues on the North East Link Project, we’re starting to build the new Greensborough Road boulevard.

There will be changes to how you travel through the area over the next year, with Greensborough Road being built in stages to minimise disruptions for drivers and the local community.

In November this year, traffic will be moved onto the permanent southbound lanes between Yallambie and Erskine roads, with the northbound lanes in this area moved onto the permanent alignment in April next year.

From May 2027, we’ll start building the new service road along Greensborough Road.

In mid-2027, we’ll upgrade the Yallambie intersection and move traffic north of Yallambie Road onto the permanent southbound lanes, before completing the northbound lanes later that year.

We’ll also upgrade Erskine Road intersection and construct new intersections at Finlayson Street, Fairlie Avenue and Blamey Road to help keep traffic flowing through the area and improve east to west access.

Greensborough Road boulevard will be in its final alignment in late 2027, with landscaping works to follow.

During this period, there will be intermittent lane and road closures to create the space needed to safely build the boulevard, with traffic management and detours in place to keep people moving through the area.

When the project opens in 2028, the completed Greensborough Road will  include a 2km tree-lined boulevard with three lanes in each direction, a 10m wide median and a new 5m service road for safer and easier access to homes.
