First look at new Goornong Station

Back to Newsfeed

Goornong locals have been given a glimpse of what their new station will look like, with the release of artist’s impressions.

Work will commence on new Victorian Government-funded stations at Goornong and Huntly while trains aren’t running on the Echuca Line during September and October, including track alignment and platform construction.

The new Goornong Station is targeted for completion by the end of the year, with Huntly to follow in mid-2022.

Track upgrades on the Echuca Line will enable trains to travel at faster speeds between Epsom and the new Goornong Station.

The works include replacing more than 20,000 sleepers, new ballast, drainage improvements, rail bridge upgrades, mud-hole removal and level crossing modifications to boost safety, and will enable trains to travel at up to 130km/h, up from the 80km/h they travel currently.

Coaches are replacing Echuca Line trains between Bendigo and Echuca from 1 September until 31 October to enable these works to take place.

Trains are still running between Bendigo and Epsom for local passengers.
