10 level crossings between Bendigo and Eaglehawk stations have been upgraded with improved train detection technology, boosting safety and allowing more services to run in this section in the future.
More than 150 people worked around the clock for more than 6000 hours during a three-week construction blitz in late February and early March. They installed, tested and made the level crossing upgrades ready for service while coaches replaced trains.
Eaglehawk Station passengers and local community members are now benefitting from safer, more accessible journeys with automatic pedestrian gates and alarms installed at the nearby Market Street pedestrian crossing.
Trains have also commenced using the full length of the extended platform at the historic station.
The Bendigo and Echuca Line Upgrade is transforming how people move around the region, already delivering three new stations, giving people in growing communities access to trains close to where they live.
