First section of Warrnambool Line Upgrade signalling to be completed

Back to Newsfeed

The first section of signalling upgrades as part of Stage 1 of the Warrnambool Line Upgrade will be commissioned during a 4 week disruption on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines from Saturday 30 April 2022.

More than 64km of new signalling cable between Waurn Ponds and Warncoort will be commissioned, with the new signalling system to enable a timetable change.

Further down the line, signalling infrastructure work will continue between Warncoort and Warrnambool, with new cabling installation at Sherwood Park and Warrnambool to provide communications and power supply for the new signalling equipment along the Warrnambool Line.

The new crossing loop at Boorcan and a fifth weekday return service between Warrnambool and Melbourne will come into operation by the end of this year, following the completion of signalling and commissioning works along the line as part of Stage 1 of the Warrnambool Line Upgrade.
