The Warrnambool Line Upgrade will deliver a fifth weekday return service between Warrnambool and Melbourne, improve safety and reliability, and will allow modern VLocity trains to travel on the line for the first time.
Signalling upgrades between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool and a new crossing loop at Boorcan is underway. It will make it easier for trains to pass each other, which helps services recover from unexpected delays more quickly, boosting reliability.

Train detection technology upgrades at more than 50 public level crossings, and an upgrade to stabling at Warrnambool Station. Stage 2 will enable VLocity trains to travel on the Warrnambool Line for the first time.
Twelve level crossings between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool have been fitted with boom gates, bells, flashing lights and improved train detection technology to make them safer for motorists, pedestrians and train passengers.
