Last month the project team from the Djilang Alliance held a First Nations Employment Gathering at Common Ground Project in Freshwater Creek.
The unique event brought together contractors, local business, community stakeholders and employment support networks, providing these groups an opportunity to work together to support and offer career advice and potential employment opportunities.
Hosted by First Nations People, Kat and Jeff on Wadawurrung Country, the informal event had three goals:
- to work together as a community to support First Nations Candidates seeking employment in Djilang and surrounding areas.
- to connect to Country and to each other building upon networks
- to change forums to gatherings which provides a positive supportive space to share knowledge and referrals to networks
