Stratford park improvements

Back to Newsfeed

The Stratford community is helping co-design improvements to Apex Park as part of our project to build a new rail bridge over the Avon River.

Locals voted for what they’d like included in the new nature-based playground and BMX/pump track being delivered as part of our project to build a new rail bridge over the Avon River.

We created a concept design based on those votes, and throughout May we asked locals what they thought about it.

We’ll use the feedback to finalise the design for Apex Park, which will be presented to the community in the coming months.

Construction is continuing on the new rail bridge over the Avon River, with crews working under modified conditions and strict protocols in place to protect the safety of construction workers and the community.

Trains will be able to travel at up to 90km/h on the new bridge, an improvement on the 10km/h speed limit on the existing bridge.

The new Avon River rail bridge and improvements to Apex Park are targeted for completion in early 2021.
