Better Shepparton Line journeys thanks to completed track upgrades

Back to Newsfeed

Goulburn Valley passengers are enjoying smoother and more reliable journeys, with major track upgrades between Shepparton and Seymour complete.

Shepparton Line Upgrade crews have delivered improvements to 13 kilometres of track in Nagambie and Wahring as part of Stage 3 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade.

535 people worked more than 57,300 hours while coaches replaced trains in March and April, replacing ageing wooden sleepers with 15,000 new concrete sleepers and adding more than 35,000 tonnes of new ballast along the line.

Further improvements included rebuilding the track through four level crossings in Wahring, which followed previous upgrades made to a 26-kilometre section late last year.

Signalling design work is continuing to allow more trains to run on the line when the project is complete.

Following these works, trains will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line to allow tracks to bed down.
