Nagambie, Murchison East and Mooroopna locals have gathered to celebrate upgrades to their train stations.

Locals celebrated at free events held at Nagambie and Murchison East stations on the first Friday of September, and Mooroopna the next day.

Residents enjoyed food and drinks supplied by local community groups and businesses including Nagambie and Murchison men’s sheds, the Murchison and District and Mooroopna Lions Clubs, Mooroopna Country Women’s Association, Oliver’s Lane coffee and Coffee Mobile.

Kids’ activities and live music were also a feature of the events, with an inflatable AFL activities hub set up and musician Tom Harrington performing at each of the three stations, and Murchison Primary School performing at Murchison East.

All three stations are now safer and more accessible, and have longer platforms to enable VLocity trains to stop there when they start travelling on the Shepparton line for the first time later this year.

The upgrades are part of the Shepparton Line Upgrade, which is delivering more frequent and reliable services, and allow modern VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time.
