More trains services are set to run on the Shepparton Line later this month, following huge upgrades along the rail corridor.
Following completion of the Shepparton Line Upgrade, passengers will benefit from 9 additional weekday return services and 5 return weekend services from Sunday 23 August.
The Shepparton Line Upgrade was completed last December, and included upgrades to Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie stations, improvements to train detection at 59 level crossings, and new stabling to enable modern VLocity trains to operate on the line for the first time.
A new signalling and train control system was also implemented as part of the upgrade to enable the line to support more weekday V/Line services between Shepparton and Melbourne, maximising the benefits of close to 40kms of track upgraded by the project.
The Shepparton Line Upgrade is part of the Victorian and Australian governments’ $4 billion Regional Rail Revival program, which has upgraded every regional passenger line in Victoria, improving accessibility and enabling new and extended train services across the state.
