Safer, more accessible stations for Shepparton Line

Back to Newsfeed

Three Shepparton Line stations have received safety and accessibility upgrades - ready for VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time, later this year.

Passengers using Nagambie, Murchison East and Mooroopna stations are now parking in upgraded, asphalted car parks.

All 3 stations are also now equipped with accessible car parking spaces linked to the platforms via new pedestrian paths.

New lighting, seating and shelter have also been fitted to the extended platforms, with the station upgrades also including new CCTV.

The stations’ platforms have been extended to suit longer VLocity trains, which will travel to and from Shepparton for the first time once Stage 2 of the project is completed later this year.

Stage 2 of the project also includes 59 level crossing upgrades between Donnybrook and Shepparton, with 5 more level crossings completed in recent weeks, bringing the total completed to 11.

Safety for passengers and road users has been boosted at 5 crossings in Arcadia, which now feature boom gates, lights, bells, and improved train detection technology.

Stage 3 of the project, which will enable 9 daily return weekday services and allow trains to travel faster between Seymour and Shepparton, is targeted for completion in late 2023.

Stage 1 is already complete, delivering 10 extra weekly services along the line.
