Shepparton Line Upgrade done in December

Stage 3 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade will soon be complete.

Work to complete installation, commission and test the line’s new signalling system will take place while coaches replace trains on the Shepparton Line for all or part of the journey from Wednesday 31 October until last service Sunday 14 December.

Crews will carry out signalling construction along the line, including cabling and installing trackside signalling equipment between Seymour and Shepparton.

This is needed to complete the new signalling system, which will enable more frequent services on the line.

Works will also include safety testing of new infrastructure along the 87km stretch of rail line, driver training, and the complex commissioning work needed to bring the new system into operation and enable trains to safely operate more often.

When the project is complete at the end of the 45-day construction blitz, the Shepparton Line will have capacity for nine V/Line return services between Shepparton and Melbourne each day.
