Big changes on the Clyde Road Upgrade

Back to Newsfeed

The Berwick community and the thousands of motorists who travel along Clyde Road each day are beginning to see major progress take shape on the Clyde Road Upgrade.

Over recent weeks, crews have carried out a series of carefully planned and coordinated bridge deck pours, bringing the vision of expanding the overpass from 6 to 10 lanes closer to reality.

In preparation for this significant milestone, the team successfully installed 14 bridge beams and 232 concrete transfloor panels, which together form the foundation for the additional lanes. To date, crews have poured 465 cubic metres of concrete across the bridge deck.

The expanded overpass will play a key role in improving traffic flow through the busy Clyde Road and Princes Freeway interchange, while also supporting future population growth and improving access to local schools, businesses and community facilities.

Once complete, the upgrade will help reduce congestion, improve travel times and create safer, more reliable journeys for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in Melbourne’s growing south east.

The upgrade builds on other projects currently underway across the south east, including the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade located just 5 km away.
