Boost for travel as new northbound lanes open on Epping Road Upgrade

Back to Newsfeed

The Epping Road Upgrade has achieved a big milestone, with a new section of northbound lanes now open and turn and through-lanes restored from several key side roads.

Crews opened the northbound lanes between Harvest Home Road and Craigieburn Road East recently, delivering a significant boost for travel through Wollert.

The opening means traffic is now flowing on both the new southbound and upgraded northbound lanes along this section of the road for the first time.

Traffic is using 1 lane in each direction while crews complete sections of the centre median along this part of the road, with these works due for completion in late October.

All turning and through lanes are open from Craigieburn Road East, Lehmanns Road, Pine Park Drive, Linfield Drive, Baltrum Drive and Harvest Home Road as well as Epping Road’s service road north of Pine Park Drive and south of Baltrum Drive.

De Rossi Boulevard is currently closed during the school holidays while crews install a new raised pedestrian crossing. The road will reopen on 4 October.

These works are being carried out during school holidays to minimise disruption, as fewer vehicles use this area at this time. The new crossing will make it safer for students and the wider community to walk in the area once school resumes.

Lyndarum Drive is also currently closed for intersection upgrade works and is expected to reopen in mid-October.

The Epping Road Upgrade remains on track to complete major works before the end of the year, delivering safer and smoother travel for all the road’s users including 35,000 drivers daily.

Crews completed work to upgrade the southbound lanes and seven intersections on the east side of Epping Road earlier this year.

Major works are now focussed on the northbound side, placing the final layer of asphalt on both sides of the road from October.
