Clyde Road Upgrade inspiring the next generation

Back to Newsfeed

Recently the Clyde Road Upgrade team welcomed a group of Year 10 Nossal High School students to the project site where we showcased some of the exciting careers available in construction.

The day started with a presentation from members of our project team followed by a site tour where students got an up-close look at piling works, AI innovations to keep people safe and, of course, some major pieces of construction machinery.

Students then took on a fun yet challenging activity, building the tallest and most stable tower using only marshmallows and pasta.

At the end of the day 96% of students said they learned something new, and overall interest in pursuing a career in construction jumped from 11 to 41%.

As part of the Clyde Road Upgrade, we’ll:

  • add additional lanes in each direction between Bermersyde Drive and Enterprise Avenue
  • widen the existing bridge over the Princes Freeway from 6 lanes to 10 to increase capacity
  • upgrade the intersection at Kangan Drive and Clyde Road by adding dedicated bus lanes and additional through and turn lanes to help traffic move more smoothly
  • upgrade the Princes Freeway ramps and intersections to make it safer for vehicles to enter and exit the freeway
  • build new and upgrade existing shared walking and cycling paths
  • install new street lighting, road signage, drainage, and landscaping.
