The Point Cook Road and Central Avenue Intersection Upgrade is progressing through its final stages, with crews continuing finishing works to complete the project.
Over the coming weeks, crews will work overnight to lay the final layer and asphalt and complete permanent line marking.
To complete these works safely, there will be some temporary traffic changes.
We'll close the Point Cook Road and Central Avenue intersection, including the Princes Freeway Geelong-bound entry and exit ramps and the Point Cook Road bridge, from:
- 8pm, Sunday 11 October to 5am, Monday 12 October
- 8pm, Friday 16 October to 3am, Sunday 18 October
- Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October, 8pm to 5am each night
- Sunday 25 October to Friday 30 October, 8pm to 5am each night.
We'll close the Princes Freeway Geelong-bound exit ramp to Point Cook Road from:
- Monday 12 October to Thursday 15 October, 8pm to 5am each night
- 5am, Sunday 18 October to 5am, Monday 19 October.
To Central Avenue
The Princes Freeway Geelong-bound exit ramp to Central Avenue remains closed until early November.
Motorists are encouraged to follow traffic signs and directions, allow extra travel time where needed and take care when travelling through the work zone.
Landscaping works will also continue across the project area into early 2027, helping to enhance the street-scape and complete the upgraded intersection.
It follows the recent opening of the intersection, with major works set to be completed in December, 6 months ahead of schedule.
The upgraded intersection will improve access between Altona Meadows, Seabrook, Point Cook and the Princes Freeway, helping people travel more easily to local schools, public transport shops, sporting facilities and employment areas, while supporting continued growth in Melbourne's west.
