From landslip to landscape

Back to Newsfeed

It’s been just over 1 year since we re-opened 2 lanes on Bogong High Plains Road, which was damaged by 1 of the biggest landslips in Victoria’s history.

Ski season officially kicked off this month, so you’ll now be able to drive past the site of the landslip safely, along the repaired Bogong High Plans Road on your way to Falls Creek.

We got green with the environment during the restoration, spraying 2 hectares of Hydromulch on the slip face. The Hydromulch is made up of:

  • 36 tonnes of mulch
  • 1 tonne of fertilizer
  • 1 tonne of Envirobond (binding agent that keeps everything in place until the plants germinate)
  • more than 1.2 million native seeds.

We carefully selected local species to revegetate the area, to provide the best chances of them thriving. This includes seeds from the majestic Alpine Ash trees, hardy Mountain Tee trees, and vibrant vines like the Purple Coral Pea.

Check out some of the natural growth in the pictures below.
