The results are in for the Ballan Road Intersection Upgrade’s Shop to the Top promotion.
We are pleased to announce that Iramoo Primary School is the winner of the campaign.
The promotion encouraged the community to shop at participating local businesses, with eligible spending earning points for nominated participating schools.
Thanks to the strong support from the local community, every dollar spent at participating businesses during the campaign has helped back local shops and generate valuable support for a local school in Wyndham Vale.
As the school with the highest spend per student, Iramoo Primary School will receive $5,000 to invest in educational resources, programs or facilities.
The promotion also helped raise awareness of local businesses at McGrath Road north, which continue to operate while major works progress.
We thank all participating schools, families, businesses and residents who took part and supported the campaign.
Major works on the Ballan Road Intersection Upgrade continue, with crews now building the southern half of the new intersection. Once complete, the upgrade will improve safety and traffic flow for the growing Wyndham Vale community. The new intersection will also improve access for local students and families travelling to and from schools and sporting activities.
The campaign attracted hundreds of receipt uploads across participating businesses.
Iramoo Primary School Principal Raquel Tweedley said the school community had embraced the opportunity to support local traders during a challenging period.
“We’re incredibly proud of our Iramoo Red & Blue family for getting behind the Ballan Road businesses when they needed the support most. Despite the disruption and changes to access, our families have continued to shop locally, showing just how strong and connected our school and local community are.”
Ms Tweedley said winning the $5,000 Shop to the Top prize was a fantastic outcome for the school and its students.
“This is a wonderful reward for our school community and a great reminder that small actions, like choosing to shop locally, can make a real difference. We’re grateful to every family who got involved and helped support our local traders.”
Ms Tweedley said students would play an important role in deciding how the prize money was spent.
“Our Junior School Council is already collecting ideas and wish lists from students, so they’ll have a real say in how we put the $5,000 to work. It’s exciting to see our students thinking about what would make the biggest difference for the school and working together to turn those ideas into something the whole community can enjoy.”
