Keeping local CALD communities informed about the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade

Back to Newsfeed

The Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade has broken new ground in its efforts to keep local culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities informed about the project, with our senior project engineer Eason Lin recently giving an interview in Mandarin with Casey Radio 97.7 FM.

Eason, who speaks fluent Mandarin, was a guest on Casey Radio’s SameVoice Mandarin program.

In a broad-ranging interview with program host Raymond Chow, Eason spoke about the numerous benefits the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade will deliver for people travelling through Cranbourne, along with how local CALD communities can stay up to date with upcoming works.

This continues the upgrade’s successful partnership with Casey Radio, which has been airing regular project updates throughout 2023 in Sinhalese, Dari, Mandarin and Hindi – ensuring we engage more effectively with the City of Casey’s fast-growing CALD communities.

As part of the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade, we’re adding:

  • an extra lane in each direction between Thompsons Road and the South Gippsland Highway
  • upgrading 11 intersections, including installing 8 new sets of traffic lights
  • building new shared walking and cycling paths and installing safety barriers along the road.

Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road will become a straight-through movement when travelling north from South Gippsland Highway, with the upgrade set to deliver improved traffic flow and travel times for the 33,000 motorists who use the road every day.
