Lyndarum Drive reopens at Epping Road as final asphalting begins

The Epping Road Upgrade is closing in on the completion of major works with the early reopening of a key intersection and final asphalting underway.

Lyndarum Drive reopened at Epping Road on Friday 10 October after the completion of major works to deliver vital improvements.

The project team were able to optimise efficiencies and capitalise on favourable weather to finish the intersection ahead of schedule.

Now underway, final asphalting and line-marking will continue until December on Epping Road and side roads between Craigieburn Road East and Memorial Avenue

During this time, sections of Epping Road and side-roads will close so crews can work safely day and night to complete these works.

This will include a full weekend closure of the Epping Road and Craigieburn Road East and Lehmanns Road intersection from 8pm, Friday 17 October to 5am, Monday 20 October. During this time, Epping Road will be closed in both directions between Bridge Inn Road and De Rossi Boulevard/Pine Park Drive. Delays of up to 30 minutes are expected.

More information about traffic changes related to this closure and to subsequent asphalting, median and line-marking works until December is available on the Epping Road Upgrade project update page.

By the end of the year, Epping Road will have 3 lanes in each direction between Craigieburn Road East and Lyndarum Drive, and 2 in each direction between Lyndarum Drive and Memorial Avenue. Also, extra lanes will have been added at side-road intersections.

This will mark the end of major construction on the Epping Road Upgrade, with some finishing works requiring short-term lane and side-road closures to be completed in 2026.

The project’s 4km of new and upgraded lanes between Wollert and Epping will make travel safer and smoother for all the road’s users.
