There will be a month-long disruption to train services on the Hurstbridge Line and a major road closure on Grimshaw Street in Greensborough during October, as works progress on the M80 Ring Road Completion Project.
Buses will replace trains on the Hurstbridge Line between Heidelberg and Eltham from 8.30pm Tuesday, 30 September to the last service on Thursday, 30 October.
Passengers should allow extra time when travelling and check the Transport Victoria website or PTV mobile app to plan their journey.
Buses will be a mix of express and stopping all stations services and will operate as often as every 5-10 minutes. Additional express services will operate direct between Eltham and Parliament during weekday peak periods.
Grimshaw Street, Greensborough closes in sections between the Greensborough Bypass and William Street/Adeline Street from 12.01am Tuesday, 30 September to 5am Saturday, 1 November.
Drivers should allow up to 45 minutes for the detour via the Greensborough Bypass, Diamond Creek Road, Main Street and The Circuit.
Buses on routes 566 and 902 will detour around the road closures and will miss 4 stops in both directions.
While trains aren’t running, crews will work on the rail corridor and the road above to build the eastern foundations for the Grimshaw Street road bridge over the Hurstbridge Line, a new walking and cycling underpass and new gantries over the road.
When complete in 2028, the upgraded Eastern Freeway and M80 Ring Road will be connected by the new 6.5 km North East Link tunnels - slashing travel times by 35 minutes and taking 15,000 trucks off local roads a day.
