The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade is making strong progress, with traffic moving onto the new roundabout at Ballarto Road for the first time.

The new roundabout at Ballarto Road is now open to vehicles travelling north and south on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, while we continue to upgrade the east and westbound lanes on Ballarto Road at the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road intersection. Once complete, the new roundabout at Ballarto Road will make it safer for drivers turning into or crossing Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road.

The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade also recorded 2 significant milestones last month:

  • completing the intersection upgrade at Greenhills Road, that included the installation of new traffic lights
  • moving traffic onto the newly constructed section of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road between Greenhills Road and Deep Creek.

The intersection upgrade at Greenhills Road was completed after a 10-week works blitz.

There is currently 1 lane open in each direction on the newly constructed section of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road between Greenhills Road and Deep Creek, while we upgrade the new southbound lanes on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road.

Once turned on later in the project, the intersection’s new traffic lights will improve safety for drivers turning in and out of Greenhills Road and make it easier and safer for everyone to travel around Pakenham South.

We’ve also widened the intersection to allow for extra lanes along Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, which will move more drivers through the intersection and reduce congestion.

The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Upgrade is adding an extra lane in each direction, upgrading intersections and installing safety barriers between Southeast Boulevard and Manks Road.

The upgrade will also:

  • improve traffic flow and travel times
  • provide an upgraded alternative north-south route in the Pakenham South area
  • introduce a new link to the southeast walking and cycling network
  • create local jobs and supply opportunities for local businesses.

The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade is expected to be complete by 2025.
