As works on the Sunbury Road Upgrade shift up another gear this summer, a popular campaign is back to encourage locals to support some of their community’s best products, services and produce – right on the doorstep of their own home.
Shop Sunbury launches this month - a campaign connecting the community with local producers, creators and businesses across Sunbury. Sunbury has a thriving business district with a variety of speciality stores – and as Victoria’s Big Build transforms and renews the area for the future, we're focussed on supporting local business as well as creating opportunities for community members.
Works are in full swing across the project’s entire alignment – with the Melbourne bound lanes between Shepherds Lane and Bulla-Diggers Rest/Loemans Road almost complete, with traffic to be moved to these new lanes within weeks. Construction is also continuing with building the piers for the new Jacksons Creek bridge as well as preparing for a major work blitz to kick off at the Lancefield Road intersection in January.
The Shop Sunbury campaign is aimed at encouraging Sunbury residents not to be deterred by construction works and to continue shopping at Sunbury businesses during these important works. Whether it’s fuelling up with a hot chicken roll, working on your golf swing or pampering with skin care, there are a wide range of goods and services available to suit your needs.
The Shop Sunbury campaign will also profile small business owners of different backgrounds, with prizes on offer giving locals even more reasons to treat their friends, family or themselves to the best Sunbury has to offer and support their community.
To enter the competition
Spend at least $20 at a participating local Sunbury business – identifiable with a sticker in the front window - between Thursday 1 December 2022 and Tuesday 31 January 2023 and register proof of purchase to go into the draw to win a grand prize worth $1000.
Entries will also go in the running to win one of 4 monthly prizes worth $250 each.
Wider Sunbury residents can show their support by sharing their experience of buying local with friends and family on social media, tagging the business they are supporting and using the #ShopSunbury hashtag.
The Sunbury Road Upgrade is expected to be completed by 2025.
