A burst of colour for the new home of Kingston Farmers' Market

Kingston Farmers' Market visitors can now enjoy a bright new artwork at the market’s new home in Kingston Heath Reserve - thanks to support from Suburban Rail Loop Authority.

Melbourne artist Angharad Neal-Williams hand-painted her bright and colourful design around the storage shipping container, which highlights community connection, nature, and the market experience.

The artwork includes native flowers and birds and is designed to blend into the natural environment.

The SRL team helped the much-loved fresh produce market move to Kingston Heath in February, to avoid disruption when early construction begins for the new station at Cheltenham.

We supported the City of Kingston with the market’s move by providing a new permanent power connection, communication materials, and a shipping container which will be used for storage.

SRL East construction is powering ahead, with works this year in Box Hill, Burwood, Glen Waverley, Monash, Clayton and Heatherton, creating hundreds of early jobs.

SRL will slash travel times to jobs, education and services across Melbourne – including to and from Southland Shopping Centre – providing Frankston line passengers with a convenient connection to Monash, Deakin and La Trobe universities without having to go into the CBD and out again.

SRL is also an opportunity to help re-shape the way Melbourne grows in the decades ahead – attracting more jobs, housing and services to the areas around each station. It will also reduce congestion on our roads.

Employment in Cheltenham is expected to double by the 2050s when SRL East and SRL North are complete.
