Environment Effects Statement for SRL East coming soon

Back to Newsfeed

Victoria’s first fully digital Environment Effects Statement (EES) will be released for Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East in early November, and includes new details about the 6 underground stations and 26km twin tunnels between Cheltenham and Box Hill.

The EES – Victoria’s most comprehensive and transparent planning and environmental assessment process – will look at the best ways to minimise impacts on the community during SRL East construction and operation.

A fully digital EES will make it easier to review the information that matters to you and have your say on this transformational project. The EES will include videos, interactive maps and images, as well as technical reports, so you can drill down into a wide range of topics including traffic and transport, ecology and the environment, noise and vibration, and local culture and social impacts.

Community members will be able to view the EES and make a written submission during public exhibition from Friday 5 November until 11.59pm on Thursday 16 December 2021. Along with the digital EES, hard copies will be available at local libraries and support will be available over the phone.

SRL East will be open by 2035, delivering immediate benefits for communities in Melbourne’s east and south east. By 2036, there’ll be around 70,000 daily trips on SRL East – with nearly half of people shifting to public transport from their cars.

Sign up for project updates and we’ll let you know when the digital EES for SRL East is open for review and submissions. Stay tuned.
