Thank you to the hundreds of Victorians who had their say on the draft structure plans for the neighbourhoods around the 6 Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East stations – helping to shape these communities for the decades ahead.
We received more than 800 submissions on the draft structure plans and draft planning scheme amendments in March and April, with 23,000 visitors to the Engage Victoria page and the draft structure plans downloaded more than 11,000 times.
We also spoke to thousands of people through 21 community events, information sessions, webinars, emails and phone calls as people sought more information about the proposed changes.
Your responses included feedback on building heights, traffic congestion, SRL East rail infrastructure, housing types, public transport, bike and walking paths and more.
What happens next?
We will review every submission, and the Minister for Planning will appoint an advisory committee, with public hearings expected later this year.
Structure plans and planning scheme amendments are expected to be finalised in 2026, streamlining planning approvals and paving the way for thousands more homes and jobs in your community over the next 15 years.
The SRL East precincts at Cheltenham, Clayton, Monash, Glen Waverley, Burwood and Box Hill will be thriving and vibrant communities with an additional 70,000 homes and 230,000 additional jobs by the 2050s – all connected by world-class public transport.
