Sunbury students pitch in to help remove the Gap Road level crossing

Back to Newsfeed

Work is underway to remove the Gap Road level crossing by constructing a new rail bridge and road underpass, helping improve safety in the heart of Sunbury.

We’ve used 3 mobile cranes to construct the new rail bridge – including a 250 tonne and 450 tonne crane – with the largest reaching 130m in height. To help celebrate this important infrastructure project, Sunbury’s primary school students were recently invited to participate in our ‘Name the Crane’ competition.

To enter the competition, students submitted their crane name on a colouring-in sheet, with more than 100 colourful entries submitted to the project.

The winning students received a certificate and an exclusive visit to the Gap Road level crossing removal construction site.

Winners Skye and Daniel joined their parents and Sunbury MP Josh Bull on-site to meet their named cranes and see them hard at work.
