Sunbury celebrates at Gap Road Community Day

To celebrate the significant progress made on the Gap Road level crossing removal, we invited Sunbury locals to attend a Community Day on Sunday 18 September 2022.

The event was held in the Sunbury Station car park off Evans Street from 11am to 1pm with a day of fun, free activities and entertainment for all ages.

Activities and entertainment to enjoy on the day included:

  • Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony
  • a walkthrough on the new road surface and under the new rail bridge
  • photo opportunities with the rail bridge’s landmark artwork by Sunbury artist and proud Yorta Yorta, Gunaikurnai and Gunditjmara woman, Teena Moffatt
  • a free sausage sizzle from the Sunbury Rotary Club
  • coffee and snacks provided by local cafes and businesses
  • music from Sunbury local and Australian Idol contestant Garth Ploog
  • face painting, balloon artists and roaming entertainment
  • giveaway bags and vouchers to local businesses.
