Upcoming freeway and ramp closures

Back to Newsfeed

Our summer works program has now come to an end with the Geelong Road to Princes Freeway outbound ramp now open to traffic.

With this ramp now reopened, construction teams will excavate underneath to make room for the extra lanes being added to the West Gate Freeway to ease congestion and reduce travel times for the 200,000 motorists who use it every day.

Thank you for your patience while we completed these essential reconstruction works.

Upcoming West Gate Freeway closures

The next phase of major works to widen the West Gate Freeway as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project will kick off from Sunday night, with the West Gate Freeway closed inbound at nights over a period of 21 days between Millers Road and Williamstown Road to install bridge beams.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time while cranes are placed on the inbound carriageway to install 42 bridge beams over the Newport Rail line to hold the extra lanes on the freeway.

We will also be undertaking sewer relocation and road pavement reconstruction works around Williamstown Road and the West Gate Freeway, requiring overnight closures of the inbound exit ramp and outbound entry ramp.
