Overview

We’re adding a new Greensborough-bound lane to reduce congestion, and installing a new smart freeway management system to provide real-time information for drivers and ramp signals to improve traffic flow on the M80 Ring Road.

We’re also upgrading road safety barriers, resurfacing the Greensborough-bound road lanes, applying new road markings, and installing new overhead signage.

When the West Gate Tunnel Project opens in 2025, and with the already completed sections of the M80 Upgrade, these additional capacity improvements will improve traffic flow and incident management on the M80 Ring Road to ensure safer and more reliable journeys.
