Disruptions
What to expect
Traffic impacts
There will be speed reductions and some freeway, lane and ramp closures during construction.
We’ll do our best to minimise disruptions by working behind barriers, reducing the number of closures needed, and working on the road during off-peak times, wherever possible.
Keep on the lookout for signage on the roads, which we’ll use to advise you of the exact dates of our upcoming works and closures. See more information about upcoming traffic disruptions and detour routes.
Cycling and pedestrian path impacts
We may need to temporarily close sections of the M80 Trail walking and cycling path at times while our works are underway. Signed detours will be in place to guide you around our work area.
Construction impacts
Our construction activities may generate varying levels of noise, dust and vibration at times. We’ll have measures in place and will monitor impacts to ensure they’re kept to a minimum. We’ll let you know ahead of time if you’ll be directly impacted by our works.
Permanent speed reduction
Once barriers have been installed, speed limits will be permanently reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h on the M80 Ring Road between the Princes and Western freeways. Once the project is completed, we’ll use the new smart freeway management system and variable message signs to keep traffic moving, like in other sections of the Ring Road.
