Kilmany rail bridge

Two cranes were used to lift 450 tonnes of arch segments onto pre-built towers.

The new rail bridge is taking shape with all arch segments now in place.

Support towers were used to hold the steel arch pieces in place while the bridge was being assembled.

Over 18,000 tonnes of materials were excavated from the existing rail line.

Everyday canola oil was used to lubricate the bridge slide mechanisms.

Our teams worked both day and night to slide the bridge 27m into place.

It was exciting to see the first trains pass over the new Kilmany rail bridge on Tuesday 25 July.

The new 95-metre steel rail arch bridge in place over the Gippsland rail line.

Teams will now focus on building the new Princess Highway carriageway that will run underneath the bridge.
