We’ve undertaken planning for a potential upgrade to Governor Road between Boundary and Springvale roads in Braeside.

As part of our planning, we sought potential solutions to:

  • provide efficient access to the Mordialloc Freeway
  • reduce congestion and improve travel times
  • improve safety
  • improve infrastructure for walking, cycling and public transport

Planning work included traffic modelling, social studies and environmental investigations. This helped understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options, and confirm scope and costs of different options.

We’ve completed our development work and a business case has been completed. The business case is a comprehensive document that provides a detailed examination of the potential upgrade to help inform government decision-making.

What we heard

From 21 January to 7 February 2022, we asked for community and business feedback on a potential upgrade to Governor Road. Thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute.

Feedback was considered in our planning and has helped us understand how people currently use the interchange, as well as their views on access, efficiency, and safety and what’s important to you in the local area.

For more information on what we heard, read the Community and Business Consultation Report (PDF, 1.3 MB).
