Updated Tuesday 14 July 2026 – rescheduled 24/7 works at Albion Station and Sunshine Road project sites

We are delivering stage one of Melbourne Airport Rail, with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver 6km of major rail upgrades from West Footscray to Albion. The works will include transforming Sunshine into a transport superhub and building new modern and accessible stations at Tottenham and Albion.

Underground drilling to create a tunnel to relocate the jet fuel pipeline is nearing completion in the Albion Station car park and at our Sunshine Road site compound.

Pipe pulling night works scheduled to begin on Saturday 11 July have been delayed and will start on Thursday 16 July.

What we’re doing

  • Lifting steel pipes with cranes and excavators, and pulling them through the bore hole at the Albion Station site.
  • Welding and coating steel pipes at the Albion Station site.
  • Pulling pipes through the bore hole at our Sunshine Road site.

What to expect

  • Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area.
  • Low to high levels of construction noise at our Albion and Sunshine Road sites.
  • Lighting in place at our Albion and Sunshine Road sites to safely facilitate overnight works.

When we’ll work

Night works
  • We will be working 24/7 from 7am, Thursday 16 July until 7am, Saturday 25 July.

    dependent and subject to change.
