Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1: West Footscray to Albion Rail Upgrade
We are delivering stage one of Melbourne Airport Rail with the Australian and Victorian governments investing more than $4 billion to deliver the Sunshine Superhub, creating space for a rail line to the airport and an electrified Melton Line. The project will also build a new modern and accessible Albion Station.
In preparation for major construction works on the Sunshine Superhub, a number of underground utilities services need to be relocated around the Sunshine Station precinct.
What we're doing
From Tuesday 24 March to Friday 27 March, we will investigate underground services. To safely complete these works, we will impact the following locations:
- Sunshine Station commuter car park off Sun Crescent – closure of 15 car spaces
- laneway to the north of City Place – no access to vehicles however, pedestrian access will be maintained
- Hampshire Road pedestrian and cycling path – no access to pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative detour in place.
What to expect
- Work crews, machinery and construction vehicles in the area.
- Low to high levels of construction noise at various times during the day, as well as dust.
When we'll work
- Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 March, 7am to 6pm.
