Franklin Street reopened
An improved and reopened Franklin Street between Elizabeth Street and Victoria Street as part of the Metro Tunnel Project.
Franklin Street has been rebuilt with an entrance to State Library Station, separated bike lanes, wider footpaths, new lighting, more bike parking, new public seating and more.
These improvements mean increased safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers and better connections from Franklin Street to the CBD, Victoria Street and Stewart Street.
You’ll also see new station service buildings, new public amenities and changes to traffic lanes and on-street parking.
Entrance to State Library Station on Franklin Street
State Library Station includes an entrance at the corner of Swanston and Franklin streets between Melbourne City Baths and RMIT.
This entrance is accessible with lifts and escalators taking you to the station’s concourse.
More lifts and escalators will take you to platforms for services on Sunbury or Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
State Library Station is also connected to Melbourne Central Station via a shared concourse, where you can change to City Loop services.
