Major construction of the Metro Tunnel’s Arden Station is now complete. While testing and commissioning activities are occurring, this update provides an outline of current and upcoming works in the Arden Station precinct throughout 2024.
Upcoming works
Arden Station site, until mid-2024
- Demolition and removal of temporary structures from site. During this time there may be periods of increased noise and vibration to remove subsurface hardstand and concrete using excavators with hammer attachments
- Installation of tiling treatment on the east facing facade
- Maintenance of landscaped areas
- Soil and material removed from the site via the Laurens Street access gate
Station testing and commissioning, 24-hours until late 2024
- Ongoing testing and commissioning of station and integration with tunnel systems
- Work inside the tunnel will continue 24/7
- There will be periods when High Capacity Signalling testing will be suspended to allow for minor works within the tunnel
North Melbourne electrical substation, until mid-2024
- Testing and commissioning of electrical systems and switch rooms
- Ongoing preparatory works to enable public realm upgrades near the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail
- Landscaping and planting between the electrical substation and the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail and the installation of a decorative screen
