State Library Station will provide access to some of Melbourne’s most popular spots: State Library of Victoria, RMIT University and Queen Victoria Market.

State Library Station is below Swanston Street, between La Trobe and Franklin streets, with the main entrance on the corner of Swanston and La Trobe streets.

An entrance on Franklin Street is directly outside RMIT.

State Library Station and Melbourne Central Station will share a concourse, allowing people to choose Metro Tunnel or City Loop services.

Passengers interchanging between State Library and Melbourne Central won’t need to touch off and on again.

Swanston and La Trobe street trams run outside State Library Station’s main entrance for an easy interchange between trams and trains.

The streets around State Library Station will have wider footpaths and pedestrian crossings and lower speed limits to make walking safer and easier.

Outside the station there are more than 170 bike parking spaces, 64 of them new, along with protected bike lanes on Franklin Street to make cycling safer and easier.

After the station is built, a multistorey accommodation building will be constructed on top of the station entrance at the corner of La Trobe and Swanston streets.
