Ford Park sports upgrades are on the home stretch
The multi-use court is now open and finishing touches are being put on the new pavilion and surrounding areas.
Work crews continue to make good progress on site and are on track for completion in September.
Climbing equipment next to the playground and the exercise station next to the cricket practice nets are now finished, and the pedestrian path along Oriel Road and Banksia Street has also reopened making it safer and easier for locals to complete a circuit of Ford Park.
Works on the new pavilion are progressing well with the roof and solar panels now installed, and work on the internal fittings well underway.
Tree planting has begun with the first of more than 100 trees already in the ground. Landscaping activities have also continued as turf, grasses and other vegetation are planted around the park. The final stages will include asphalting of the new car park, and the removal of the portable changerooms, public toilet facilities, and the temporary fencing that surrounds them.
The new facilities will accommodate Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) who will be moving from Bulleen Park while we build North East Link.
Training on the upgraded southern oval will start over the summer months before matches are played during the 2022 winter season.
The sports upgrades will also benefit the community and existing users, Ivanhoe Junior Football Club and Bellfield Cricket Club.
