Tree planting at Ford Park, Bellfield as new sports facilities take shape
We're getting ready to plant more than 100 trees at Ford Park, Bellfield as sport upgrade works progress.
While some trees needed to be removed to build the new sports facilities including the new pavilion, synthetic turf cricket nets and extra play equipment, we've developed a landscape plan to green the area as we near the end of construction. We’ll plant a range of species including spotted gum, blackwood, yellow gum and maple trees towards the middle of this year. In addition, we’ll also plant correa, kangaroo paw and spiny headed plants and shrubs.

You can view our landscape plan at one of our information sessions at the temporary pavilion in Ford Park:

- Saturday 20 March, 10am to 11.30am
You can also view our landscape plan on our sports facilities page.
The new cricket practice nets have been finished ahead of schedule, allowing Bellfield Cricket Club to train in a fully enclosed space, without having to look directly into the sun.
Other community facilities including public exercise stations, extra play equipment and the new multi-use court are well underway and will be ready to use soon.
Works on the new pavilion are also continuing, with the structure now taking shape. Remaining works, including the new car park and field lighting will begin in the coming months.
Yarra Junior Football League will join Ford Park’s other users, Bellfield Cricket Club and Ivanhoe Junior Football Club, later this year.
Ford Park is being upgraded as part of the $68 million investment to keep local sports thriving while we build North East Link.
