As part of North East Link, major upgrades to the Eastern Freeway and M80 Ring Road will include new lanes, smart technology and a seamless connection to the North East Link tunnels.

The M80 Ring Road will be upgraded between Greensborough and Plenty Roads. This work is being delivered by the M80 Ring Road Alliance.

The Eastern Freeway will be upgraded between Hoddle Street and Springvale Road. This work is being delivered as three packages:

• Eastern Freeway Upgrades (Burke to Tram) Alliance
• Eastern Freeway Upgrades (Hoddle to Burke) Alliance
• Eastern Freeway Upgrades (Tram to Springvale) Alliance

Each Freeways IEA Report provides a 6-month summary of audit activities and outcomes related to construction activities by the 4 Freeway packages and, where relevant, activities undertaken by the State.

Each report summarises audit activities during the reporting period, audit findings and the status of actions taken to address previous audit findings. It also looks at our Freeway package contractors’ compliance with the Environmental Management Framework and Environmental Performance Requirements.
