What we'll be doing

Activities to support tunnelling works will take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We’ll aim to minimise noise and light impacts away from your property as much as possible.

Managing construction impacts

Throughout our works, you may experience noise, light, dust, and vibration. We manage these impacts through real time monitoring, water carts and street sweepers, targeted lighting, and reducing noise and vibration within the construction zone. You may also see workers and machinery, in and around construction areas, and an increase of trucks removing dirt from our worksites.

To stay safe, please follow all instructions from signage and traffic controllers. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these works.

Track our TBMs

Our TBMs are powering ahead, excavating the North East Link Tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen. Both TBMs will take planned breaks throughout their journey from Watsonia to Bulleen to undertake regular maintenance. You can track their progress at Tunnel boring machines tracker.

M80 Ring Road Completion upcoming  disruptions

To support ongoing works on the M80 Ring Road Completion, we’ll be working overnight and on weekends in areas between Watsonia Road and M80 Ring Road from August to October 2025.

We’re continuing to build new lanes on the M80 Ring Road. In late August, we’ll temporarily close the M80 Ring Road Altona-bound exit ramp to Plenty Road over one weekend.

At Grimshaw Street, crews will work at times during the day and night, with road closures and detours in place while we relocate underground utility services to prepare for major construction later this year. To safely complete these works, Grimshaw Street will be closed in both directions at times between Macorna and William streets.

At Watsonia Road, we’ll undertake power and watermain relocation works in Watsonia. These works will require temporary night-time closures of Watsonia Road.

There'll be intermittent lane closures and speed reductions in place along Greensborough Highway, Greensborough Bypass, M80 Ring Road and Grimshaw Street until late 2025. Expressions of Interest – Northern Business Liaison Group

The Northern Business Liaison Group (NBLG) has been established to provide a forum for consultation and information-sharing between the project and the local business community during construction.

NBLG membership expressions of interest are open to local business owners, traders and representatives. Through this forum, members can have their say, share knowledge, expertise and help minimise construction impacts to businesses in the area.
