The Victorian Government is delivering three new stations at Goornong, Huntly and Raywood to give people in these growing communities access to train services close to where they live.
Construction of the new Huntly Station is underway and is targeted for completion by mid-2022, after being fast tracked by nearly a year.
The new station at Huntly will be located on Wakeman Road, west of the level crossing.
The new station will include:
- a single-sided platform on the north side of the rail line
- lighting, seating and shelter
- signage, CCTV and public address (PA) system
- car parking with lighting
- bicycle hoops
- a bus stop and 2 bus bays
What are the benefits?
The new Huntly Station will give people in this growing community access to trains close to where they live.
A sealed car park, bus stops and cycling facilities will provide connectivity to the station and make accessing the train easy for passengers.
A ramp will make it easier to access the platform for passengers with mobility aids or prams.
Lighting and CCTV will provide station users with added security
Next steps
Construction of the new Huntly Station is underway and will continue until mid-2022.
There will be machinery, heavy vehicles and workers within the rail corridor and surrounding areas.
You may notice an increase in noise, dust and vehicle movements while works are taking place.
Plan your journey
The speed limit on Wakeman Road has been temporarily reduced to 40km/h.
Throughout construction, traffic may at times need to wait up to five minutes while large vehicles are safely steered into the construction area.
Please plan your journey to avoid delays. Allow extra travel time and take care when travelling through the area.
Who is responsible?
The new Huntly Station is being delivered by Rail Projects Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government.
Symal Infrastructure has been appointed to design and build the new stations at Goornong, Huntly and Raywood.
Goornong Station was delivered on schedule, opening in December 2021. Huntly Station is targeted for completion in mid-2022, with Raywood Station to follow in late 2022.
Bendigo and Echuca Line Upgrade
The new stations at Goornong, Raywood and Huntly are being delivered as part of the Bendigo and Echuca Line Upgrade, which will enable trains to travel at higher speeds on the Echuca Line and more frequent services between Bendigo, Epsom and Eaglehawk.
