Works are underway in Box Hill to deliver SRL East for Melbourne and Victoria.

We’re continuing site establishment and utility relocation works as we make way for major construction for SRL East.

These works will be carried out from Monday 8 January for approximately 8 weeks.

These works will be undertaken during both day-time and night-time working hours.

Day-time working hours

• 7am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday

Night-time working hours

• 6pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday.

Work locations

Whitehorse Road Linear Reserve

• Utility relocation works
• Demolition of structures
• Landscaping and earthworks
• Public lighting installation
• Tree removals
• 24-hour works will be required at times

Whitehorse Road, between Nelson Road and Kangerong Road

• Kerb and pavement works
• Utility relocation works
• Signage installation
• Lane and overnight road closures.

Station Street, between Elland Avenue and Bank Street

• Signage installation
• Lane and car park closures.

The New 109 Tram Terminus is open

During some stages of the works, the pedestrian crossing at Market Street will be closed. Signage will direct passengers to the 109-tram terminus from the north side of Whitehorse Road.

Noise impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

• Where possible, keeping Whitehorse Road open in both directions on Friday and Saturday nights
• Using noise blankets and fencing where possible
• Turning off equipment when not in use
• Applying water during cutting and drilling.

Future works

We will build a temporary bridge on Whitehorse Road to keep traffic moving throughout construction. We will provide further details of these works over coming months.

Traffic changes

Traffic changes are needed to complete these works. Vehicle and pedestrian access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times, with help from traffic controllers when required.
