As work progresses on the Keon Parade level crossing removal project, locals, Mernda Line commuters and people travelling through Keon Parade are asked to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, as road and rail infrastructure works around Keon Park Station ramp up in July and August.
In order to get started on the elevated rail bridge over Keon Parade and new Keon Park Station, crews on site will close a section of the Mernda line so work can continue in the rail corridor while trains aren’t running.
The team will start work on the foundations of the new station and rail bridge, using piling rigs. We’ll also install large concrete segments known as piers and crossheads at Keon Parade.
To learn more about how we will build the rail bridge, check out the fact sheet on our website.
Changes to the way you travel
Buses will replace trains on sections of the Mernda Line at times throughout July and August.
The Keon Parade level crossing removal project has partnered with Metro Trains for their Hidden Disabilities campaign – supporting people with invisible disabilities as they travel on the rail network.
If you need assistance while traveling, or have questions about how to get around, passengers can look out for staff wearing a Sunflower supporter badge. Passengers can also pick up a Sunflower lanyard, badge and wristband from key stations across the network, including Clifton Hill on the Mernda Line. Visit Metro Trains website to find out more about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.
