Victoria’s Big Build is celebrating Women in Engineering Day and all the incredible female engineers that work across our projects.
Women are traditionally under-represented in engineering. Just under 13% of qualified engineers in Australia are women – but Victoria’s Big Build is giving more opportunities than ever before for women to be part of Victoria’s mega infrastructure boom.
Engineering is rich with challenge and reward and allows women to transform outcomes for communities across the state and take on positions of leadership and influence, via Victoria’s historic program of transport infrastructure investment now and into the future.
Projects like the Metro Tunnel, West Gate Tunnel and Suburban Rail Loop are supporting the development of women in the sector and unlocking leadership opportunities for team members in engineering. Victoria’s Big Build is also actively recruiting women into graduate programs and supporting experienced women to develop through further education and training.
To help more women succeed in the construction industry, the Victorian Government has developed the Women in Transport Program, with $2.4 million to support women working in construction.
