Works are ramping up around the CBD, but it’s business as usual for your favourite shops.

NOLA (North of La Trobe) is a precinct identity created by the Metro Tunnel Project to support the residents and businesses impacted by construction at the new State Library Station.

Bounded by Swanston, La Trobe, Elizabeth and Victoria streets, NOLA is a place to explore and discover unique cafes, restaurants and shops. In 2019, it was also the most densely populated area in any major Australian city.

The activation strategy includes creative treatment of construction hoardings, events designed to activate the NOLA space, and the creation of digital elements such as a tailored website, and Facebook and Instagram pages.

From street food to pub fare, from coffee to cocktails, and from board games to karaoke – there’s something for everyone in NOLA. A full list of participating businesses is available on the NOLA website.

You can also help support the initiative by following NOLA on Instagram and Facebook.
